Megan Gale Interview
Looking at Australian top model Megan Gale, the first things you notice are her sea green eyes and flawless skin, which also caught the attention of the casting director during an audition for an Italian telecommunications commercial in 1999. Megan eventually got the Omnitel commercial and her fame skyrocketed in Italy after the sexy commercial was aired.
Since then Megan has continued to be the popular face of Vodafone (nee Omnitel) in Italy, David Jones in Australia, and is also Australia’s Ambassador to Italy.
Megan has a very busy work schedule and flies all over the world on photo shoots so we thought we would ask her how she keeps her skin looking so damn gorgeous…
Megan: “I follow a few simple rules; only wear makeup when I absolutely have to, drink loads of water, protect my skin from too much sun exposure, get as much sleep as possible, and I have a healthy diet”.
HBB: Tell us about your favourite skin products…
Megan: “I’m in love with all products from La prairie. It’s quite pricey but I find their products really make a difference to my skin. Jurlique is also great and Tea Tree Oil on blemishes clears them up quickly”.
HBB: What foods do you eat to keep you looking and feeling good?
Megan: “Fresh fruit juices are always good and yummy, and I take a zinc supplement too (prescribed by Health Before Beauty). Anything high in zinc I find also helps with my skin like fresh seafood, and lots of fruit and vegies”.
HBB: Share with us your favourite healthy recipe…
Megan: “I have lots though my favourite juice of the moment is celery, cucumber, apple and pear”.
HBB: Is there anything that makes your skin break out?
Megan: “I have to wear a lot of makeup through my work. When I’m particularly busy, I find my skin holds up for a little bit but eventually my skin will break out from day after day of wearing ‘full’ makeup” (if I have back-to-back photo shoots and media appearances).
HBB: How much water do you drink?
Megan: “I try and drink at least litre and a half to 2 litres a day, more when flying and in summer. I really notice a difference when I don’t and feel sluggish and dehydrated”.
HBB: What beauty myths do you disagree with?
Megan: “I can’t really say as I haven’t tried them all. I think that we all have different genetic make-ups and we all have our strengths and weaknesses and you need to follow a routine that’s catered to you”.
HBB: Any other ‘sexy-skin secrets’?
Megan: “I think I’ve told them all. Another would be to cleanse morning and night and moisturize morning and night too. Never go to bed with makeup on!!!!”
HBB: You’ve brought out a natural sunscreen called ‘Megan Gale Invisible Zinc’, tell us about it… and why did you choose to bring out a natural sun care product?
Megan: “I’m so proud of this product for so many reasons, though mainly because it is natural, and also it’s Australian made (from my hometown in Perth). The only active ingredient for protection against the sun’s harmful rays is zinc oxide, no titanium oxide or other toxic materials. I chose to be involved with this product as it was completely natural and I am very particular about what I put on my skin especially as I need to keep it looking great for work. I’ve also found in the past that other sunscreens made me breakout and this one when I tested it didn’t and I’ve always been a fan of zinc”.
