Sleepover Parties
 As kids get older they often like to have a sleepover party for their birthday, or during school holidays.
These can be a lot of fun for everyone but we suggest, as the kids will be staying overnight unless you have a huge space to put everyone that you limit the numbers.
Eight is a good number that will allow kids to have their closest friends come and still let you keep some control. Think about getting some little travel toothbrush kits to include with the invitations.
Things to Bring Along
* Sleeping Bags
* Pyjamas
* Favourite CD's
* Clothes for the next morning
* Toiletries
Decorations
If possible set aside a room in the house where most of the party will take place and where everyone will sleep. The lounge room is perfect if you can move some furniture out of the way because you play games there, watch videos and put everyone s sleeping bags on the floor.
If you would like to create a fun atmosphere think about hanging fairy lights around the room so late at night they can tell their spooky stories and think they are under the stars.
You could also buy some cheap glow in the dark stars to place on the ceiling.
Food
If you start the party after dinner then you just need to think about late night snacks and breakfast in the morning.
Some really easy ideas are having pizza delivered for when they are watching videos, making up their own sundaes, popcorn, hotdogs, chips etc, roasting marshmallows in BBQ coals and hot chocolate.
For breakfast think about giving the kids a buffet breakfast like in the big hotels. You can have things like fruit juice, platter of fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes and muffins.
Ideas to Keep Them Busy
* Hire a Karaoke machine and have a disco party. Get the guests to bring along their favourite cd.
* Play some classic games like Twister
* Buy some cheap facial masks and make up and have a makeover party
* Organise a scavenger hunt in the dark
* Play flashlight tiggy
* Watch videos leave this to the last activity hopefully everyone will be exhausted and will settle into their sleeping bags and fall asleep.
The Fake Sleepover
If your kids would love a sleepover but you think they are a little young - have a fake sleepover. Everyone has to come in their pyjamas, you can have the same activities and eat the same foods.
If possible cover all the windows in one room to make it more like night time (the fairy lights would be fabulous for this). Towards the end of the party they could all still slip into their sleeping bags to watch a video.
