Playdough Recipe for Older Children

Ingredients

4 cups water
1 cup salt
4 tablespoons of cooking oil
4 cups plain flour
3 teaspoons cream or tartar
food colouring or powder paint

Mix all the ingredients in a saucepan, and stir over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until the mixture congeals. Let cool, then knead to pliable.

Store in an airtight container.

Playdough Recipe for Younger Children

Ingredients

2 cups plain flour
1/2 cup oil
food colouring or powder paint
water

Add the oil to the flour and mix thoroughly. Mix food colouring or powder paint with water. Add and mix in enough of the water to make a soft dough.

Store in an airtight container.

Bubble Mix Recipe

Ingredients

1/3 cup Dishwashing liquid
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup water
Pipe Cleaners

Mix the first three ingredients in a plastic dish (one with a cover to save for later). Form pipe cleaners into different shapes and attach to unsharpened pencil for a bubble wand.

Finger Paint Recipes

Ingredients

1 cup corn flour
2 cups boiling water
Food colouring as required

Add a small amount of water then mix to make a paste, then add food colouring and remaining water, stirring all the time. It should become thick, milky and glossy. If it doesn't, heat it gently on the stove, until it thickens.

Slime Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup Lux/Soap flakes
2 litres of warm water
Colour or fragrance

Mix and then leave until it becomes jelly-like, then beat with beaters. We suggest using your slime outside on the grass. This makes a slimy mixture children love to pour and play with, all you need to do is supply containers, funnels etc and stand back!
